Writing Reliable
C/C++ Code |
When: |
Tuesday, September 22, 2009 3:30pm — 4:45pm |
Where: |
Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA, room 207, Security
track |
Who: |
Greg Davis, Director of Engineering, Compilers, Green
Hills Software |
Synopsis: |
Compile-time checking in C and C++ can catch many
sources of errors, but there are numerous errors that may cause run-time
failures. Many of these failures are unlikely to show up during product
testing, and will only show up, later, as costly product glitches.
This session describes the top sources of run-time errors, and how
to avoid them in order to write reliable code. |
Multi-core and
Virtualization: Embedded Synergy |
When: |
Thursday, September 24, 2009 9:25am — 10:35am |
Where: |
Hynes Convention Center, Boston, MA, room 104, Track:
Multi-core, Multi-threading, and
Virtualization |
Who: |
David Kleidermacher, Chief Technology Officer, Green
Hills Software |
Synopsis: |
Fostered by the latest embedded multicore processors
with virtualization hardware support, a new generation of hypervisor
technology is rapidly making its way into a wide range of electronic
products. Embedded virtualization has specialized requirements, involving
footprint constraints, power efficiency, and reliability. This session
will introduce and compare hypervisor implementations across the
most popular multi-core processors, including ARM® Cortex™,
Intel® Atom™, and Freescale™ PowerPC™,
and explain how this exciting technology can be practically applied
to enable compelling new capabilities across a wide range of industries
and embedded applications. |
Green Hills Software will offer, in booth #409, a wide range of interesting
presentations and demonstrations, including:
- Platform for Secure Networking – a
comprehensive platform based on the certified secure INTEGRITY® RTOS
and consisting of secure virtualization, advanced file systems, dual
TCP/IP v4/v6 host and routing stack, web server, SSH, SSL, IPSec, wireless
communications and security software, Layer 3 routing and management
software, USB, and development tools that enable developers to create
secure, powerful, high-throughput connected devices with maximum availability
in the least time and at the lowest cost. This Platform will be demonstrated
on a Fulcrum Microsystems “Reno” reference platform.
- Platform for Medical
Devices – incorporates the safety-certified
INTEGRITY real-time operating system, a broad range of middleware
including communications protocols and graphics, secure virtualization,
and an integrated tool suite that addresses software developers'
needs throughout the medical device software development process.
INTEGRITY is available with complete software lifecycle data and
supporting evidence for use during the FDA approval process, and
has been used in Class II and Class III devices. This platform
will be demonstrated on the Texas Instruments Zoom™ OMAP35x
development kit.
- Multicore Development Solutions – comprehensive
operating system support and development tools for deploying multicore
systems. INTEGRITY will be demonstrated configured for both Asymmetric
Multi Processing (AMP) and Symmetric Multi Processing (SMP) modes along
with tools that encompass all modes of multicore development. These
products will be demonstrated on the Embedded Planet EP8572A development
platform featuring a dual core Freescale MPC8572 processor.
- Intel Architecture JTAG debugging - INTEGRITY will
be demonstrated with the Green Hills probe JTAG debugging interface
on the Intel D945GCLF2 development system featuring the Intel® Atom™ processor
330. The Intel® Atom™ processor 300 series enables
a new class of simple and affordable internet-centric computers called “nettops” that
is best suited for applications focused on internet usage models—communicate,
listen, watch, play, share, and learn.
