Green Hills Software Joins Power.org

Brings Power Architecture Experience to Standards Organization

SANTA BARBARA, CA—June 10, 2008—Green Hills Software, Inc., the technology leader in device software optimization (DSO) and real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced its membership at the Sponsor level in Power.org™, the open organization that develops and promotes Power Architecture™ technology. Green Hills Software is providing leadership and experience to help develop, enable, and promote Power Architecture technology, optimize interoperability, and accelerate innovation. Green Hills Software’s experts are participating in the Power.org technical subcommittees, including debugging, hypervisors, operating systems, embedded platform requirements, virtual platforms, and application binary interfaces.

Power Architecture Technology Leadership
Green Hills Software’s software development solution was the first commercial offering for the Power Architecture (formerly known as PowerPC) technology. Since 1993, Green Hills Software’s software development solutions for Power Architecture-based processors have led the industry in software performance, footprint, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY® real-time operating system has been the market-leading, high reliability real-time operating system for Power Architecture since 1997. Deployed in 2003, Green Hills Software’s Padded Cel™ was the first commercial embedded hypervisor targeting Power Architecture solutions. Green Hills Software’s optimizing compilers for Power Architecture technology are most often selected by semiconductor manufacturers for Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC) benchmark certification.

Power Architecture Ecosystem Leadership
In addition to its innovations around Power Architecture technology, Green Hills Software has led industry efforts to standardize Power Architecture Application Binary Interfaces (ABI), assembly language standards, and debug hardware connectivity standards to enhance interoperability and software reusability for improved customer experience. Green Hills Software works closely with all the Power Architecture semiconductor vendors to help guide hardware directions that impact critical systems software.

“Power.org has established itself as the most productive and effective computer architecture consortium in the embedded systems industry,” said CEO and founder Dan O’Dowd, Green Hills Software. “There is no doubt that this unique collaboration across software and hardware vendors will translate directly into improved products and technologies for end users of Power Architecture solutions.”

“The Power Architecture technology platform, driven in part by Power.org, is growing faster than ever and across a growing breadth of markets and applications,” said Ray Bryant, chairman of the board, Power.org. “We are pleased to have Green Hills Software’s extensive expertise and market insights in Power.org and look forward to its collaboration as we accelerate the adoption of Power Architecture solutions.”
