Green Hills Software and The MathWorks to Offer Free Seminar for Medical Device Developers

High Integrity Code for Medical Devices using Model-Based Design on a Medical Grade Platform

SANTA BARBARA, CA—July 27, 2009—Green Hills Software, Inc., the world leader in certified safe and secure real-time operating systems (RTOS) and The MathWorks, Inc. will jointly offer a free seminar that will introduce Model-Based Design for developing high integrity software for medical systems on a medical grade platform. MathWorks Model-Based Design tools enable developers to create an executable specification of the medical device and use system-level simulations to help test throughout the development process to detect software errors and prevent them from reaching the shipping products. MathWorks and Green Hills Software engineers will demonstrate modeling, simulation, and implementation tools that are used from the design requirements to object coding of a medical grade device, providing automatically generated artifacts for FDA submissions.

When: Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Where: San Diego Marriott La Jolla, 4240 La Jolla Village Drive, San Diego, CA 92037, Salons A-B
Agenda: Building a model from requirements
Validation of a model against requirements
Quality standards for models
Verification of the model against requirements
Production code generation to Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY RTOS platform
Validation of the generated code against the model
Quality standards for code & code verification
Verification of the generated code against the model
Verification of the generated code against the requirements
Requirements for a medical grade Off-The-Shelf (OTS) platform
Utilizing on-chip trace for testing and anomaly detection .

About the Green Hills Platform for Medical Devices
Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY® RTOS, the core of the Platform, is a deterministic real-time operating system that carries credentials for reliability, availability, and serviceability, including use in many FDA/CDRH Class II and III-approved life-critical medical devices. The Platform provides a complete software development debug and test solution that helps device makers increase productivity and drastically reduce development cost, per-unit cost, program risk, and product time-to-market. INTEGRITY is fully integrated with a complete range of feature-rich middleware components.

About Green Hills Software
Founded in 1982, Green Hills Software, Inc. is the technology leader in device software optimization (DSO) and real-time operating systems (RTOS) for 32- and 64-bit embedded systems. In 2008, the Green Hills INTEGRITY-178B RTOS was the first and only operating system to be certified by the NSA to EAL6+ High Robustness, the highest level of security ever achieved. Our INTEGRITY® and velOSity™ real-time operating systems, µ-velOSity™ microkernel, compilers, IPv6-ready TCP/IP networking stacks, GateD® Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing, MULTI® and AdaMULTI™ integrated development environments, DoubleCheck™ integrated static analyzer and TimeMachine™ tool suite offer a complete development solution that addresses both deeply embedded and high-reliability applications. Green Hills Software is headquartered in Santa Barbara, CA, with European headquarters in the United Kingdom. Visit Green Hills Software at www.ghs.com.
