Green Hills Software Extends Support for Analog Devices Blackfin Processor Family to Include Memory Protected INTEGRITY RTOS

Best- in-Class RTOS Meets Requirement of Low-Power, High-Volume Applications

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS— September 14, 2004 – Green Hills Software, Inc. (GHS), the market leader in embedded software development tools and royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced the availability of its INTEGRITY RTOS for the first three members of the Analog Devices Blackfin® Processor family, the ADSP-BF531, ADSP-BF532, and ADSP-BF533. This combination allows developers to take advantage of a high reliability, high security, memory-protected RTOS optimized for a high-performance, low-cost, low-power processor.

“By integrating the INTEGRITY RTOS with Blackfin Processors, available at prices as low as $5 and incorporating both DSP and control processing capabilities, Green Hills Software and Analog Devices are enabling the development of sophisticated, reliable, low-cost devices,” said Dan O’Dowd, founder and CEO of Green Hills Software. “The scalability and low cost of the Blackfin Processor family are a natural match to the scalability and royalty-free licensing of our INTEGRITY and velOSity RTOS solutions.”

“The INTEGRITY RTOS allows developers to take full advantage of the power of the Blackfin architecture,” explained John Croteau, General Manager, Media Platforms and Services Group,
Analog Devices. “By leveraging the Blackfin memory protection capability, the INTEGRITY RTOS enables development of the most reliable and secure applications. This fulfills a key requirement in today’s embedded audio, video, and communications applications for which the Blackfin Processor was designed.”

About INTEGRITY

The royalty-free and POSIX compliant INTEGRITY RTOS provides embedded applications with total reliability and absolute security. The INTEGRITY RTOS is securely partitioned, guaranteeing each task the resources it needs to run correctly along with fully protecting the operating system and user tasks from errant and malicious code, including denial of service attacks, hackers, worms and Trojan horses.

The INTEGRITY RTOS is built on Green Hills Software’s small and fast velOSity microkernel. Both products share a rich set of device drivers, Board Support Packages and middleware, including, as an example, IPv4, IPv6, IPsec, SSL, SSH, Web server, CORBA and graphics. The ability to migrate seamlessly between the velOSity microkernel and the INTEGRITY RTOS provides embedded software developers with unprecedented scalability.

About Green Hills Software’s Blackfin Solution

In addition to the INTEGRITY RTOS, Green Hills Software’s Blackfin development solution includes the MULTI Integrated Development Environment (IDE). The MULTI IDE works with both Green Hills Software’s C/C++ optimizing compilers, optimized for general purpose processing, and the Analog Devices VisualDSP++® C/C++ compilers, which are optimized for DSP algorithms. The MULTI IDE features an RTOS-aware source-level debugger, run-time error checker, version control system, performance profiler and real-time event analyzer. With the MULTI instruction set simulator engineers can develop and test Blackfin code on a PC, Linux or UNIX workstation without the need for the target hardware. Green Hills Software also provides two hardware assisted debugging solutions, the Slingshot debug device for easy connection to target hardware and the Green Hills Probe for high-performance download and debug.

About Analog Devices Blackfin Processor Family

The Analog Devices Blackfin Processor family combines a 32-bit RISC-like instruction set with 16-bit dual multiply accumulate (MAC) signal processing functionality with ease-of-use attributes found in general-purpose microcontrollers. Dynamic Power Management enables breakthrough power consumption by allowing the simultaneous adjustment of operating frequency and voltage under application control. Availability

The velOSity microkernel for Blackfin Processors is available today and the INTEGRITY RTOS for Blackfin Processors will be available in the fourth quarter of 2004.
